Has anyone here used it? I've just gotten broadband installed, so I thought I would give it a shot... plugged the Xbox into my laptop via a crossover cable, then gave it a shot. Couldn't detect the console. Lots of FAQs say that I have to disable the wireless... but that's how I connect to my ADSL. Is there another way to do it rather than to have a physical line to the router?

I am totally hanging out to play Halo 2 online, btw. ;)

I've used it, and played Halo2 on it. It works just fine, except that there's no updating, really.

The way mine worked, was I have two eth ports on my PC. One runs to the router, the other to the XB. The software then takes a little while to find the XB, and I was set.

I'll see what I can do getting a different setup running, Raa. They mention lots of different configurations here - I think I'm going to have to be content with going off wireless when I'm playing the Xbox. It won't be so bad. :)

Haha, all the oldies will remember that I've been trying to hook up broadband since the days of the VBB. This truly is the end of times. :D

Used it, but was physically connected to a switch that the PC was on.

Decent performance, but, without Live you won;t be able to play with half the people who have it and Live, as I believe they have updated Halo 2 a couple times ;)

I use a direct line to my swith which henceforth connects to my modem.
Xbox did the rest, Live works fine.

Let me know what your gamer tag is when you hook up. :D

You'll have a bit of d/l to do first. Grab the two free maps at least. :)

No, see, grug... XBConnect doesn't use live. It's a free alternative to live.

Lol, well typical marketing strategy of microsoft, they are making Live free with XBox 360.

Yeah, it basically simulates a system link connection using your computer and its network connection. So you can play multiplayer with people across the world, but it's not through Live. However, I may yet get Live... we'll see if I can get that free two-month trial thing working so I can grab the updates and maps. ;)

You might look into getting an Xbox Magazine subscription if you do not get live, they ship alot of the updates on those disks.

Ah. That's cheating. :p

Halo2 disk is due out in June I think. That will have all 9 maps and a few extra doco's on it.

Well if you ever do get live let me know. :)

I was just at an EB, and I saw the Halo 2 disk.

20 bucks seems like alot to pay when a Live subscription is 60 per year and you get ALL (almost) the other updates for the other games  :)

EDIT: Oops, misread.

But keep in mind that the update/map discs include some new cutscenes + all of the new maps.

Still a bit pricy compared to comparable products (such as Pc expansion packs).  IIRC it's being given away free in a few months time or so, so the only point of selling it seems to be to milk money off of the die-hard fans.

Well, it's being given away for free on XBL. Those without will have to pay up still. Hopefully the prices will drop after the initial release however.

I doubt many people who didn't have XBL would buy a $20 (or £20) pack whose main feature is multiplayer maps. :)

Your right, they would use a fee XBL trial to grab them. I wouldn't be surprised if many people get the map pack purely for the new documentarys/cutscenes.

not likely. I will never ever give MS my credit card number, so they can charge me when I miss the one month period by an hour.

Its 2 months actually. And if you download the maps as soon as you activate your account, you can cancel the same day with 2 months to spare... Or you could spend some time playing online first.
