I did however, find a copy of Star Tentacle: First Tentacle. Quite an interesting movie,

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

If you need to take notes I can recommend La Blue girl episodes 1-6  (they also made them Live Action)

But I prefer RAPEMAN of Edo 1&2! (Also Live Action) As he is really a good guy dressed like batman but has various "toys" on his belt and he only punishes evil women... A true hero for our time!

Wait this is for anime.. ahem, I nominate: Char's Counter attack (a Gundam Movie), Akira, Vampire Hunter D (Original), and Warriors of the Wind (called nausicaa in Japan I think, god it made me cry, I was just a kid then lol!)

oh and trivia... did you know the actor that did English voice for Rick hunter was the voice of Prince Sirius in the movie "Sea Prince and the Fire child?" long before Robotech? Another tear jerker like Titanic but animated!!! LOL!!!

yes I know this proves I am old, get over it ;)
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

excuse me, but has anyone here even seen Beauty and the Beast as an adult? i believe children can't quite appreciate the depth of the story.

The best animated movie ever??
Yes.

And as an amateur musician, I must add that the music in that movie is (as is often the case for Disney films) absolutely spectacular.  Probably the best of the Disney films I've listened to as of the last few years.

Yohko Kano 0wnz never the less (Macross Pluss, Escaflowne, GITSSAC, ect. ect.).

Check out Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - now that's some serious series, where each episode could stand on its own as a film.

Both Bubblegum Crisis, and the subsequent (and lot better realised) remake BGC 2040 Megatokyo had good soundtracks. The first is my favorite 80' j-rock with a sense of darkness that's otherwise very alien to the style (Try to grab a subbed version with the lyrics translated too - you'll quickly get want I mean. Who can come up with such a corny never the less fitting line for cyberpunk as "What is the world coming to with a Devil kissing an Agel?")

BGC 2040 had some good 90' rock music, and Priss Asagiri once again shines, though I don't now if the seiyun was a singer just like in the OVA.

(PS.: Avoid BGC - Crash like plague, some ppl wanted to grab some serious money, but they raped the story to cramp in as much showy non-sense as possible)
