For all you Nightwish fans out there (i.e. Gortef and a few others) - whaddaya think of the new album?

Think it's bloody good meself - a definite improvement on Century Child. It's heavier, and the synths are more subtle. The orchestral backing adds a lot to it as well, I think. Also good to see more male vocals on there - they worked well on CC, and they're a good contrast to the main vocal.

I'd rate it pretty highly, probably a 4 out of 5.

Of course I like it ^^

As far as I know Tuomas had full power on what will be in there this time... London Symphony Orchesta, native indian... I don't even dare to think the budget of that album

It's simply superb. I can't really say that it's better than the previous albums since they had marvellous songs aswell. Let's just say that it's a masterpiece again ^^

Ghost Love Score... gotta love it :)

Yes Marco singing with Tarja is a nice contrast, and he can sing well too. That was prooved on the Century Child allready.
Habeeb it...

Phreak: Er, no. Dream Theater = self-indulgent fret-wankery (heh, you can tell I'm not a fan :p ), Nightwish =  Finnish weirdness.  Lead vocalist is a classically trained woman, combined with Metallica/Iced Earth style riffing. Also think Maiden-ish, except Bruce is a girl and there's a full-time keyboard player. It's really strange, but you should give it a go. You'll either love it or hate it. Also synths and orchestra (on the new album at least).  I recommend sampling the following tracks:

Ocean Soul
Bless the Child
Ghost Love Score
Nymphomaniac Fantasia
Nemo (single off the newest album)
Romanticide
Planet Hell
Slaying the Dreamer
Forever Yours

That should give you an idea of the kind of stuff they do.
**** it, listen to anything you can download, then decide if you wanna get the albums or not. :)  I like it personally - I'm a big classical music fan, and the metal/orchestra combination rocks as far as I'm concerned (see Metallica's S&M and Kiss Alive IV) - but it's one of those things that you won't know till you try it. They're on Nuclear Blast records now - I think there's a sampler you cvan dl off their site: www.nuclearblast.de

Gortef: Heheh - go Nuclear Blast! I'm liking it more every time I listen to it, I do prefer it to the last two albums, but they are bloody good in themselves. It's just different I suppose. And Marco's voice is one I'm liking more and more all the time - he can do the melodic stuff (Siren), and he can do the shouty bits really well too.

Nice one pyro-maniac. You prettymuch summed it all up
And thanks for the link to Nuclearblast, I'll check it out.

I agree that you should listen prettymuch every NW pice you can find PhReAk (and everyone alse wondering in there) but that's a good list pyro gave there. I would personally add Sleeping Sun and Wishmaster into it... and She's my Sin and Dead Boy's Poem... and... aww heck you get the idea :p
Habeeb it...
