A long time ago in a galaxy....
....we discussed what our favorite webcomics are. Since then we've become 'wiser, smarter and stopped bragging'.
As a result our tastes changed, we picked new titles (....or we're just geeks we too much time on our hands.) or old ones have come to a conclusion.
Webcomics are more than mere pictures with bubbles and funny text, they are part of the soul of the Internet; a medium that was created, discoroverd and embraced by our generation and our generation alone (except for n00bs who don't even know who the Meowers were).
So it's once again time to share our beloved sites that mirror our constant thrive for a better life (...that's just power outage/shutdown away, but we're too busy browsing to care.)
Here's the deal:
AdventureFlipside is the story of a sexy jester girl and her friend swordwaltzer girlfiend. An unconventional take on the fantasy lore, with a healty(?) helping of animeish characterisations and sexual innuendo.
Outsider is classical space-opera, that's actually closer to hard-sci-fi than anything the general adudience has called sci-fi (...ergo not us geeks). Humanity has just left the craddle behind, and finds itself in the middle of an interstellar war. The Umiak and the Loroi have been at war for the last decades, and they ain't likely stop until one of them is wiped out.
We've got to pick a side or we're spacedust, it's up to our protagonist Alexander Jargin to pick the *right* side and...Whoa! Elves in space? (....hot stuff)
Shifters is a new take on Underworld, with teenage angst added for good measure. Although the story's been going on for a while, only the rudimentary basics beside the groundwork have been laid out.
Still it's a good read, and the art seems to be improoving.
The Foxfire Chronicles are made by our resident artist and HLP-er Turnsky, and he has tranformed from an amateur into a venereble artist before our very eyes.
The story deals with 'wolf-people' with a seeminlgy
simple take on their existance soon enough it's apparent that it's ain't
that simple.
ComedyBuilding 12 is Chris Hazeltons firts webcomic, and deals with the life of the run dom college dom 'Building 12'. Weird **** runs rampant though with the invasion of aliens, the campus taken over by a self-appointed dictator....and not to mention the Devil and his minious who also set their eyes on the campus. It's up to our ragtag weirdoes and outcasts to save the day....hilarity ensues.
Least I Could Do. Have you ever met someone who's so irritating and full of themselves that it actually makes them sympathetic? Neither did I, but Rayne comes close. The epitome of playboy, this man and his less endoeved friends take it upon themselves to parodise our daily life, new found cult icons and lay every woman in eyesight....okey...any beutiful woman in eyesight.
Misfile is Chris Hazelton's other webcomic. What if our lives are recorded in heaven? What if computing hasn't been introduced yet? What if there was a Misfile/Mislife?.....what if you wake up as a 15 year old girl and no-one notices since to them it has always been so.
Less comedic than his other work, Chris this time satirizes gender stereotypes and attitudes....not to mention alcoholic angels with a disciplince problem.
DramaErrant Story is Michal Poe's second webcomic. This time though - unlike his first comic Exploitation Now - the setting is fantasy....with very unfantasy like take on things. It's clever, humorous, self-critically cynic and underneath all a downright moving tale, we've come to expect from him.
Jack is a strange breed. It's about furries - you better get over it now. Other than that it's very mature, very dark and downright deadly....as most of the story takes place in hell.
A new take on Dante's vision. There are recurring characters, though the comic itself is a colleciton of stories dealing with life, sin, punishment and redemption.
Very hardcore stuff, but with a message that makes the trip worthwile.
GeekCtrl-Alt-Del is about geeks. You and me...ect. Except it's not boring...or angtsy...and pretty funy now that I think about it....and there's a girl too....
Anyway, a good take on our very life style exposing our good and bad.
Freefall is another furry comic....as their is a single furry. It's the most endearing and scientifically accurate story I've ever read. Did I mention it was clever? It's more than that it actually deals with issues that are worth pondering.
Megatokyo is Fred Gelegher's ongoing saga about a pair of American otaku strangled in Japan and their dealings with the Tokyo otaku-reality. It's a sweet rendition of fandom with its ups and downs, the console wars and humans inability to deal with the other sex in a straightforward fashion. Your Milage May Wary.
VG-Cats is probably is hardcore geek self-criticizm and parody online. A must see to obtain top level geekery....and the cats are cute.
SatireGhastly's Ghastly Webcomic. Philistines beware. Tentacle monsters and the woman who love 'em. All kinds of sexual minorities....and oddities....and furries.
Not to be taken seriously/lightly....odds are your gradma/mama won't like it. It's still a bleeding edge satire about our sexual hypocricies.
Krakov. A lighthearted take on college life, succubii and weid dates.
Nazi High The politically correct webcomic. Evil/Good is funny/stupid.
Sexy Losers Another satire on sexual hypocrisies and/or the biggest ongoing comic of dirty jokes, take your pick.
