My first model, sniff...
So here is my first totally self-made model.

Tools: TS 3.2, LithUnWrap, graphics with PSP.

About 50 m long, 2 light turrets at the bottom, one heavier missile (torpedo/bomb/rocket) / gun / antifighterbeam (different models) turret on top. Pilot has some light weapons and some missiles. Idea was taken from HW corvettes and HW2 gunboats...  And it shall handle like a brick. even Ursa is a nimble one compared to this...

In-game screenshot

EDIT: Triangulated poly count is about 575, depends which turret is in use

Its a little hard to make out. How about a textureless view?

Any better?

Re: My first model, sniff...
Looks promising...just reduce the Missile banks by half...or more...they look like they might tip the craft over...

Plus you might try taking some parts out of the extended bits (The forks that look like they're from the Mill. Falcon.) Make them oddly shaped. Slap on a Vasudan Texture, and add a bit more turrets and you've got a Vasudan Light Cruiser or GunBoat.

Either that or just shrink the missiles and see what everyone else thinks after that.

Re: My first model, sniff...
Ok, though i think ill stick with more terran than vasudan looks. And here goes:

Smaller missilepods

Alternative heavy energy/ (type 3 = antifighter) beam cannon.

Re: My first model, sniff...
Much better, second one kinda reminds me of that homeworld 2 pulsar corvette.

Anyways, it's looking good now, the only thing i can reccomend is adding more detail to the main body, and then a nice looking texture.
actualy, mabye not.

Re: My first model, sniff...
The main body could definitely use some more rounding. It would look pretty vasudan with that. (Or at least vasudan body with a terran turret on it).

Re: My first model, sniff...
Second modelling attempt... This time trying to create a cruiser sized model.

And with fighterpod

It has perhaps a bit Vasudanish looks...

Re: My first model, sniff...
I'm not sure the "head" should be so circular.  I'd suggest having it more ellyptical shaped (forward-stretched), with a pair of arc's coming off each side of the head (at the fattest point) like those of the head segment of the Hat.  Also, have the divet knotch in the nose of the head, like there is on the Hat, though not quite as large (proportionally) and more swept.  Then, move the head segment back so the upper neck section terminates about a 3rd the way along the head.

Definitely a big improvement. Those wings are too flat though.

You always say that but never make clear just WHAT would look Vasudan (in your opinion).

Re: My first model, sniff...
Raa's point is that just because something is curvy does not mean it is Vasudan.  I agree with him on that.  However, Raa would probably disagree on what actually is vasudan.  There aren't many people who have shown the talent in making good Vasudan designs.

More or less. There isn't a way for me to explain, because all of the criteria, technically, may be met, but it still doesn't fit with the Vasudan design. And, frankly, too often people attempt to make a Terran craft, fail, round it some more, and say it's Vasudan.  There's very few, if any, ships that I would accept as Vasudan, personally.

I doubt even V couldn't decide on what should be Vasudan, especially between FS and FS2

Without fighterpod this time. Elongated 'head' and remade wings.
