eve has like a 2 week trial from gamespot, not sure what the page is though

If you need an eve trial, PM one of the players your email, and they can send you one without you having to drudge through gamespot, its faster too ...

Yes, but the gamespot thing can take up to an hour, the buddy program is instant, and no waiting for a dozen emails...

yes, it's definately worth it.

while the skill training is kinda frustrating, it is designed to where you won't get wtfpwned by 3-year old players. 5 months into the game and you can do pretty well for yourself.

right now I'm part of one of the largest alliances, and we're getting ready to deply 3 new outposts (it's no longer a secret thanks to some accidental leaks... but I won't say when or where  )

Should I try mining?  What's something easy I can do during a trial period to get a real full experiance out of EVE?

You're confusing ISS and Goonfleet. Most of the ISS Navy groups I see have about three-five members.

hmm... try running combat missions with agents, or deadspace complexes to get a handle on combat.
