While yes, I'm happy that the new race are the Dranei the whole Dranei=Eredar thing isn't my cup of tea...

I have no idea who the Dranei are, and I have if not actually played then certainly watched others play both Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne, aside from playing WoW. Is Blizzard just making this up as they go along, or is there some sort of precedent for the new race that I'm unaware of.

The Draenei were mentioned in the Warcraft II manual as the first race that the Orcs wiped out when they made pacts with the demons.

They first made an appearance in The Frozen Throne, but they were apparently 'corrupted' versions.

The big twist is that they're the same race as Warcraft III's main villain.

I've never beaten WCIII, but could you explain the whole same race thing to me? It seems rather dubious.

Erm... where is it written that Horde are the bad guys and Alliance the good guys? It's not that black and white. Both new races and their factions do make sense considering their history.

Blood Elves are Horde...which means that if you are human or night elf you will have to kill them as you are on opposite sides...You cna't invite tthem in your party...and so on..
And considering what happened to the Blood Elves, they don't deserve it...

Guess Blizzard thought - ok, the Allaince has elves allready, so lets give the Hoirde some elves...and the Horde has taurens, so lets give the allaince allso something similar (check the legs on that guy). That mirror principle sickens me...

Yeah, well, those Draenei would have made sense. But apparently these are new Draenei, who are really Eredar, but not really because they're paladins now instead of Warlocks, making them Draenei, and the old Draenei are now "mutated" Draenei.

It makes perfect sense.  The blood elves, having broken from the Alliance, now find themselves in the ragtag collection of misfits that is the horde.  I don't know what to make of the Dranei, quite frankly, because they just seem random, but the Blood elves as Horde only bothers me because everyone who is not alliance gets shoved in there (see: the Forsaken) and not because they are not alliance.  The alliance treated the blood elves like crap in Frozen Throne, and those elves have started feeding on Demonic energies which makes them quite opposite from the light-serving races.  The Horde should be Orcs, Trolls, and maybe Tauren and the others should belong to a different faction.  That would have been the way to go with the expansion IMHO, but the two-side thing has been set in stone for a while now.

See how that works? And interestingly enough, I must assume you are an Alliance weenie. In which case, I fully understand why you feel the need to vent, what with the Alliance's tendency of getting raped by the Horde. We understand.

That's why the Horde rules. We don't treat our people like crap. Even when they're dead goth chicks plotting to wipe us out with a plague.
