Voiceacting for Echo Gate
Hi.

I've got a four-mission FS1-era micro-campaign ready for release, but I figured I might as well make use of this forum and get it fully voice-acted.

So.

Three big parts, spanning the entire campaign. A handful of smaller parts which I'm going to combine into three additional parts. That's six voice-actors. I'd contribute myself, but I don't have a microphone on me here at uni and I won't have access to one for another couple of weeks, so it's all up to you guys.

BIG PARTS

Player's Commander - briefings and debriefings for entire campaign - Darkblade

Alpha 2 - player's wingman - neoterran

GTD Minnow - GTA Command - freespacegundam

SMALLER LESS INTENSIVE PARTS

GTC Tybalt - Getter Robo G

Theta Freighter & PVFr Iskot - Cobra

GTC Pearce & GTC Stratata - Blaise Russel

GTSC Bowman & GTC Coldwolf - Nix

I don't have a particularly strong idea of how any of the characters actually are, so I'm gonna let you define them with your voices for me.

OGG mono format will be fine. I'll do all the post-production stuff, no problem.

Just stick your name down below with the part you'd like to do if you're interested.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: slightly modified eg3_db2.ogg for the Player's Commander part.

Cool. :)

Though we may have to do some juggling with ST:R if we want to continue to keep it compatible with your campaigns. :p

I may be interested in voicing something.  I'll give it a shot once I have some free time this week.

Darkblade - Player's Commander , that is if you don't mind him having a slight Finnish accent. ;)

Excellent. Glad to have you both on board.

Erk. Can't be that extreme... can it?

Regardless, looking forward to it.

Need a voice for some part?  I'll be willing to help.  Ya already know my voice, so yeah, if you want, let me know.  Any part will be fine for me, if you're planning on giving Alpha 2 to Neoterran, that's all cool, but that's the part I'd like to do.  If not, any of the other bit parts would be cool for me.

Well, there are no explicit contradictions, at least from what I read of the supplied scripts. :) But the fleet movements (of both the Shivans and the GTA) would seem a bit muddled if both campaigns were taking place simultaneously, and the Eumenides project would be confused even further (although considering the character of the GTI, this might not be unusual).  If you want, I could go into more detail over PM or ICQ.

Glad to have you on board. Don't worry about the volume of the recording, I can sort that out just fine.

Sorry, Nix. :( I liked your voiceacting in Derelict, but it's just that Neoterran asked for Alpha 2 first. You can have any of the other parts if you want.

Re: Voiceacting for Echo Gate
Okay Blaise,

I'm psyched to have the part of Alpha 2. If the quality and volume of the sample I gave you is okay, I'm going to go ahead and act it. I guess you'll be able to clean it up and everything. Looking forward to actually playing the campaign as well.

Did you mean the Iskot, Tybalt and Theta part? Because the Iskot and the Pearce end up talking to one another, and having both played by the same actor probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Re: Voiceacting for Echo Gate
Well, I have a few different tones I can do. The kind of gritty voice you hear in my thread showing off that voice. And then I can just talk without that grittyness. The vasudan would have that mechanized translator sound making them totally unique of each other.

Hey Blaise, where do you want these voices to be sent? I have almost finished up my recording session.

Also J.P., don't know if you have improved on your recording style but you talked way too close to the mic, at least on your samples.

Re: Voiceacting for Echo Gate
No I didn't. I always check for that. I always turn the volume up as loud as I can without risking cut off. But in the case of fighter pilot voices I always add a little bit of gain onto to it to sound more realistic. I watch for "POOFS!" and "POPS!" all the time to. If it has any I re-record it.

blaise_russel at hotmail.com will be fine. Did you see the revised version of that debrief? Sorry to be a pain, but something had come up and I needed to change a minor detail.

I'd prefer to leave the parts as I arranged them. Taking the Iskot as well as the Pearce and Stratata would leave the Tybalt/Theta part with only seven lines, only two of which potentially may be heard in a single playthrough, which would be a bit harsh on the last voiceactor.

Guess it is just my ear then... or then Black Sheep has just taught me to be too careful for too high volume recordings.

Otherwise your samples sounded good.

Sorry to be a pain, but... er... the Seraphim isn't a strike bomber. :nervous: It's actually identical to the Nephilim aside from bomb capacity, so it would be a heavy bomber like the Ursa.
