I want to know if anyone here has any advice or tips on how to actually drawn ships. I always managed to drawn most things but what I really want is to make ships, the only problem is actually putting that on paper, I can imagine the whole ship in my mind (there's enough to make a whole fleet here) downright to the shape, weapons placement, etc, but when I try to draw it, it simply doesnt come out. So, anyone?

I can't draw properly, so I sketch side/top/front/etc outlines and try and capture the basic 'idea'.

My biggest thing is - get the perspective right. Practice on your perspective and in extreme cases, use vanishing points. I say this because a lot of people just draw the ship, and half of it is from the side, and the other half is from the top - it gets very ugly.
So yea, that and don't be afraid to make your ships fat or slim in some places - a lot of people just make cylindrical ships or ships that look like boats or modern day jets or whatnot.

As mentioned above, perspective is key, Scale is quite important too,  I find the best method is to sketch sketch sketch, get a good flow going in pencil or whatever your tools are, then go over edges in thick pen, use a smaller pen to do small lines then erase the pencil lines and finally ink/felt tip if thats your style..   (alterantely scan the pencil picture into psp or photoshop and add a new layer and go over it in that and add the colour to a new layer aswell so the dark lines dont get ruined)
