Re: Finally, a dream come true (non-mech fans need not apply).
Well, personally, I don't find them THAT good. While the mechs look pretty damn awesome, the environments, specifically the ground, do not impress too much. But they are the best FOR A MECH SIM I suppose.

The appeal of this game is definitely not the graphics anyway, at least in my book.

And if you are not a mech fan, there is no guarantee you will like this game. In fact, I'd say odds are you would hate it.

Deepblue, I wish you would devote the energy you use in making posts like these to finding a cure for cancer.  If you did we'd likely have a nice cure by now.

I was hooked until I found out this is a 360 game and not for PC...

Talk about AC Silliness too.

I agree with aldo, incidentally.
Reading the thread, I'd probably spend more timing doing the Mechs than playing the game. That's how it was with Forza, anyway.

oh, jesus, I hate 'the hardcore crowd'.  It's usually synonymous with 'snobbish dicks convinced of their own superior taste'.
Gaming is not sufficiently respectable to merit use of the word "snobbish". This isn't music or wine we're talking about; it's electronic simulations of blowing **** up.

Wow... The reviews of this game are certianly running the gammut. The scores range from a 2/5 to 9.5/10. It looks interesting, and it sounds like *the* reason to get the game is multiplayer. I like multiplayer, but I don't get a game just for that, I do like a good SP side to sink my teeth into. Maybe I'll give it a rent, but I doubt I'm going to get this any time soon.

Yeah, picked this up, not tried online, but did mess with the customization a bit.

I think the graphics are top notch, at least until you start looking closely. I can only assume all the short cuts they took were to make the online play more smooth. Units vanish after being estoyed, buildings simply collapse after you shoot at them for a while, the terrain is a bit sparse. I just expected more from the 360 after Oblivion.

The gameplay is good, very mech feeling, the Hounds are impressive and move like you might expect a HUGE metal tank to move. It seems to be (and from the people who have played online) a range game, but we'll see if that holds true when it gets online. Opposing artillery barrages actually can be alot of fun :)

Game Trailers has the best review I have seen so far, seems to cover the bases online and off.

Re: Finally, a dream come true (non-mech fans need not apply).
I wouldn't say those graphical touches weren't possible to do on the 360, because other games are doing it. At the same time, the game manages to get little things just right. Like the way a flare hits the ground at night or emerging from a river and having the water drip down from your hound. Quite perplexing why they missed what others would consider the more obvious things.

EDIT: Oh now THAT is COOL. I finally figured out why heat sinks and radiators are good things.. It helps if you don't want to appear on the thermal vision of an enemy sniper. :p

Chrome hounds looks absolutely great, The only thing stopping me from getting it right now is the lack of off-line multiplayer, Does anyone else just enjoy getting a load of mates and just doing split-sceen or link up round someones house?

Re: Finally, a dream come true (non-mech fans need not apply).
Sorry to rez the thread.

Anyway, apparently the game has been selling extremely well. It has already hit #3 on the top X360 XBL games. As such, I fully anticipate expansion packs and sequels. :D
