Re: How did you get your username?
I started IS. But I eventually moved from the FedCom (felt betrayed by how the FC Civil War ended thanks to Victor) to the Combine and from there to the Nova Cats.

Re: How did you get your username?
Got mine from Metroid Prime 2. For those who aren't Nintendo fans (your loss!), a character there, Dark Samus, who is one of the coolest-looking villians EVER, is sometimes known as "The Dark Hunter". Anyway, I like the idea of the mysterious darkness, and my playing style on Halo is most definitely a "hunting" style, so I went with that.

Re: How did you get your username?
Back in '02 I was at a school library and my dad was there to pick me up, I asked him for a german word to use as a password as I was setting up a Yahoo! account.  He said "Schwantz" or something which I decided to condense down in "Swantz".  After a while I changed the passwords I had used it for and started using it as a username because it was easy to remember.

Also, thanks to my dad's wonderful knowledge of fifty year old German, due to him leaving the country at nine years old, I had no clue of the more modern meaning of the word, which may or may not be "tail" as he suggested.

I was 13 or so when I first registered, and since my email already started with nuclear1, I just decided to be oh so original and use that as my username here.

Everywhere else I'm registered as Nuclear, though.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

Re: How did you get your username?
An anime from the late 70's and an impressionable youth are a great combination:
Been using it as my name (either Star Dragon or Getter Robo G) on BBS's and now the internet since 1984?

Re: How did you get your username?
When I registered at at PXO way back when I used the named "Black Lion". Then, thinking that was my pilot name, tried to log on. But it didn't know the name, so I made a new one, "Blue Lion"

Lo and behold I found out they were two seperate things, I just never got around to changing them.

And no I didn't name myself after the Blue Lions.

(This was all way way back in the day, god I'm old)

Re: How did you get your username?
A series of books. Fantasy to be exact, which paints a certain image, but, excepting diskworld, its the only one of the type that I read.

Main character from the books, a straight-laced, heroic good guy (at least originally), and probably becaused I'm a straight-laced, boring good guy.
Watch out for the Guns! They'll getcha!

More specifically, I started making up my own sequel to SMRPG and one of the bosses was called Axem Power (cuz he's liek powerful omg). So when trying to register a name on the MSN Gaming Zone (5,000 years ago), all my attempts were taken, so I chose AxemPower. Eventually the Power part was chopped off as everyone just called me Axem (Though I use AxemP if someone's already taken Axem).

Re: How did you get your username?
Shortly before I joined HLP, I had to pick an internet handle and I picked "Sesquipedalian", for exactly the same reasons that our Sesquipedalian did.  And then Sesquipedalian and I registered here and at the VWBB at almost exactly the same time -- three days apart to be exact (check our registration dates).  The funny thing was, Sesquipedalian registered here first, and I registered at the VWBB first, so there were two different Sesquipedalians in the FreeSpace community.  Then Sesquipedalian registered at the VWBB as Sesquipedalian!, causing even more confusion. :D

Apparently Sesquipedalian had been using his handle for longer than I had, maybe at the VBB or somewhere, so he and I had a chat and I decided to change my username to Goober5000, both here and at the VWBB.  I've been Goober5000 ever since. :)

Goober changed it.
I can change it back if you're not happy with it. :doubt:

Back in -95... or something... out of curiosity I decided to check out some role playing chatroom with a proper nickname. After a short time of thinking and typing some random letters to the nickname box I had a name "Gortef" in front of me, and I was pleased. It has been the same ever since, and as far as I know I am the only Gortef around.
Habeeb it...
