I'd replace thuster glows & flames with rotating sub-objetcs & scaled trails, and redo the (semi-transparent) thruster.ani to look like the beam off of a searchlight, for added atmosphere.
are you crazy? ut the space shuttle in water to see what happens... basically, it's designed to resist to a pression from inside to outside ( pressurized air inside, air or vacuuml outside ). so put it it deep water: "crunch".
ok, let's forget about that. Put your sapce shuttle in the water. Now, gentlemen, start your engines!
What? it doesn't work? comne, it's not because there's hundered of litres of water coming right into the engine they shouldn't star! Oh, it does?
sorry sorry sorryoh, and i'd like to see how an ursa would handle under water

. Aerodynmics not important in space, but hydraudynamics, it's another mater

Plus, in fact the most important: I want to pilot submarines, not submarine herc2!!!
