Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
ya, i dont get that part..... why an arcadia? probably because in the mission before that they say it's the last hamma o' light destroyer.....

That's because they're too different ships. Outpost Nagada was the Arcadia, and the Tanis was the destroyer.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
Thought of another Vasudan installation. The GVI Ogdoad from Casualties of War.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
My guess about the installations is that they only put them in the central areas of systems, around core planets, or wherever they have some already established strong military (permanent) presence, so that theyre no that vulnerable. Therefore, since you never really see those places in FS1, they dont really have a lot of them.

And, since, you never really see the Vasudan home systems either, there's no real need for the GVI. and same for the shivan equivalent, but to a greater extent.

Excuse me if I came across as a total newb...i'm pretty new here.

I always thought of Zods as predominantly a colonial society, Vas Prime obviously being akin to Sol, Once gone all refugees would bust a groove to planetary colonies like the one in the opening mission "surrender belesarius"

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
No, it appears twice in the FS1 campaign (three times if you count the FSPort credits mission) and twice in Silent Threat (three times if you count Arcadia debris).
And in the FS2 campaign, the Arcadia Installation appears twice (three times if you count the one training mission)...
Enif Station (Epsilon Pegasi)
3rd Fleet HQ (Capella)
<On "Their Finest Hour">
The GTVA sure knows how to launch feint attacks. You have the Colossus with her engines shut off, her battle group (all three ships) who apparently had problems with their weapon reactors, and a motley crew of fighters. No wonder the Bastion's escorts got decimated.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
for the first part of my campaing the player is flying in Vasudan Prime and yes, I used the Karnak for a central station, using the Arcadia, in Vasudan prime in a pre-shivan timeline is ridiculus.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
I can only agree, that speech is well worn. It was old even when I recieved it like a year ago, and filled with in-jokes that with a few exceptions even the people using it probably don't get these days - I mean, I haven't been around anywhere near long enough to get all of them, and most people using the beam now have been here shorter than I have. The really long time members already seem to have left the thing to die.

It's funny though, isn't it? A noob greeting being perpetuated, essentially, by noobs. Those who really have the veteran status to warrant using it, don't, as they seem to realise it's been done to death.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
In other words, the Welcome Beam Effect is spreading in the same manner as a virus. Well, then, the solution is simple. Quarantine you say? No, we'll just bombard their homeworld from orbit. I mean, "sterilize" it. Yes, that's what I meant.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
How about we simply limit its usage?
It's become a sort of "e-penis." New members seem to like posting it, and keeping track of how many they have given out, but that defeats its purpose. It doesnt exist to  be a competition between members. It was originally a nice warm welcome, but it has been done to death, and that horse that you all keep beating is nothing more than a skeleton at this point.
Please, just let it rest in peace.

Speaking of noobs... did HLP just get linked to from someplace big or something? There's like 150 guests on the forum at the moment.

[Edit] Make that 250+, even.

Re: Galactic Vasudan Installation?
The other Arcadia seen in FS1 (not including ST), not including the GTI Riviera in the opening cutscene, would be the Beta Aquilae instellation, right before the Lucifer torches it ("Failure to Communicate"?)

I agree that the Karnak isn't a terrific example of a Vasudan station, in that it looks too much like a copy of DS9.

*grumbles about his mistake of asking Dark to make it somewhat DS9-like*

The idea was that the pylons would be docks like on the Ganymede, when they're used as such it's less DS9-ish.
