Graphics Problem (Smoke Effects)
Recently downloaded the 3.6.9 RC7 build and I'm now seeing smoke as some rather ugly black cubes. I did a search and downloaded the recommended graphics fixes from this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,42560.0.html) but they don't seem to be working. I had this problem before and was able to fix them with those fixes (I think it was them at least). Can anyone help me out? It's a very distracting and ugly problem.

Re: Graphics Problem (Smoke Effects)
The Alpha patches go into the folder with the other media VPs... just in case...

And you might want to try fiddling with the -jpgtga feature a couple of times.

Uh, I don't think screwing with the jpgtga command line will fix his problem. :P

Just download the 710 patches and they'll work perfectly. :)

Re: Graphics Problem (Smoke Effects)
Okay, here's the deal. I've downloaded all three 710 patches and fixed the graphics problem for Freespace 2 and all of its campaigns. So thank you, that worked just fine.

However, I did the same thing with the Babylon 5 project folder and the graphics problem is still present. Could this be some sort of mod conflict? Should I take it to the B5 forum instead? I should note that this problem was not at all evident when I was utilizing 3.6.7 earlier today, it only showed up after I upgraded to 3.6.9 RC7 in order to play the Awakening The Beast demo campaign.

Re: Graphics Problem (Smoke Effects)
Are you using a Mod.ini? That is a little text file that allows you to use multiple mods (so you don't have to put Media VPs in every single mod folder).
Here is the text for it:

Code: [Select]
[launcher]
image255x112 = FS2.bmp;
infotext     = This Freespace II uses the Media VP Files. ;
website      = http://scp.indiegames.us/news.php;
forum        = http://http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,50.0.html;

[multimod]
secondrylist = ,<your media vp folder name here>;

Just name the file " mod.ini " without quotes and put it in all of your mod folders (except the media VP folder) and you won't have to put Media VPs into every single folder.

Re: Graphics Problem (Smoke Effects)
Well, the B5 mod by default installs itself to a different folder. But I tried that and it still did not remove the graphics problem. I find it strange though, because nobody else seems to have complained about this and I'm not the only one playing B5 with 3.6.9 RC7. It's really annoying. Everytime I hit a fighter I'm greeted by a pixelated mess.
