The 131st Gryphons is a squadron that i am creating effective immediately. It is an australian squadron. I am sure there are aussies out there in these forums wishing to join a squadron made purely for australians wanting to mix it up online.

the prerequisites to joining the 131st are : -

1. You must enjoy FS2
2. You must enjoy having fun.
3. You must live in Australia (the best country in the world  )

If you're interested, list your interest here , or PM me and we'll swap msn and set up a sortie time.

Suit up pilots ! The great southern land launches their fighters and bombers at 1900 hours !

Bad idea, considering that there are only a handful of people on HLP from Australia, and even less are active.

Pffft. What would you know  . Ive got a stack of friends who play FS2 and love it.

Whats with the HL Forums ? So suddenly becoming full of pessimists ?  :ick:  :hopping:

Suddenly? I thought that was the motto of these forums. Hell, look at the way we treat the topic that should not and will never be mentioned.

Also, Mefustae is right.

How do you figure? It was mentioned 15 times last week, alone.

Yay you've got friends! :p Seriously, though, there are hardly any people active on HLP from Australia. Just because we say it doesn't mean it's not true and we're being pessimists. Being an optimist doesn't change reality :p

Yes it does. A pessemist would say  "Bad idea, considering that there are only a handful of people on HLP from Australia, and even less are active."

An optimist would say something more like "Well there a handful of people on HLP from australia, and not many are active, but im sure there are plenty of FS2 lovin aussies out there on the net. Search around !"

oh well....guess this is a pessimistic world.  :doubt:

Well then, next time; if you want bull****, ask for bull****.

If, on the other hand, you want the straight facts, you know where to find me. :doubt:

Well I doubt that there are enough FS2 players in Australia to form a squadron too but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

There used to be. I remember the UA having a bunch of Aussies. They were a nightmare to play against back in those days when we didn't have the cable connections that ranged in megabytes for private normal use.

600ms ping guaranteed and at least 20-30 packet loss normal with spikes up to 70.

We got their nodes though. Man, I love myself.

At any rate, good luck with the squad. You're going to need it.

Well I live in Australia, and (IMO) it sure is the best damn country - (just ignore the nick......I was younger and more stupid back then). I seem to fit all 3 conditions but I'm a pretty crap pilot. First I've gotta get internet connectivity on my gaming comp, but then I'm not sure if I'd be able to work through the multiplayer issues/procedures.

The squadron number is good, but why "Gryphon's"? Maybe a certain marsupial animal might be more suited....or maybe not...

Not too many ways than just saying "Yes I will join you" these days.

Squads just can't be what they used to be today.

The pessimismtasticfullness in the above post has reduced the quality of my life by a staggering 23%.

I remain optimistic that proper code for squadrons will one day see the light of day...in the daytime!

Once taylor fixes the whole thing up, or pawns it off on someone else to do the website part, it can (functionally) work better than it ever did.

However the place still won't be the same, what with all the assholes gone. Well a few of us remain, but the core moved on sadly.

been gone long time, (in hospital :( ) But im back now, and to answer those who wish to form a squadron with me, well send me a private message and we'll sort it out. Anyone is welcome as long as your from Aus and like freespace. It'd be preferable that you've finished the single player campaign through....having that kinda piloting experience helps (and on 'very easy' doesnt count). Anyway, we all start somewhere, right ?
