Deep Exploration can open .ma and .mb Maya ascii and binary files respectively. Not mp though.

Ultimately, though, you are still going to get issues trying to work this way. Believe me...I did! Until I got the Max plugin working, I was trying to convert a model to cob format and then convert to pof using PCS. It was virtually impossible to preserve the correct hierarchy for any of the detailed stuff, and I kept crashing PCS with assorted geometry that it couldn't handle. It is designed to work with cob files made by Truespace, and geared specifically to the way that works. You might be better off downloading the free TS3.2 and just finding a file format Maya can export and Truespace import. Then you can set the thing up in Truespace and use PCS to convert.

*Cough*  DE isn't Free...

This is probably the last Free version of 3DX (the previous incarnation of DE)

McAfee says it's clean but I'd give thsi a once over just to be safe (foudn it on an old HW2 site).

It have two additional plugins aside from the usual ones, Maya4 and 3DS-MAX (previously it only opened .3ds now it can do .max I have not tested these two new formats YET)

Enjoy!

Pretty sure 3d Explorer doesn't do mp files. The way they have designed the PLE release seems specifically aimed at keeping models in Maya. there is a plugin for UT2004 game models....so there might be a way to use that to get a file format that something else can read!

Re: Conversion Help .mp to .cob
AFAIK you need to own UT2004 to access the editor, the editor can EXPORT UTfiles as .3ds (I have serched high and low of another UT2 other format converter with no success...

So if maya ple can make ut files I suggest getting ut2004 (but I personally have never seen or used the process myself) still waiting on feedback about success or problems with it?
