First of all, i would to congratulate all of the WC SAGA team for a really great job!
I read about this mod a few weeks ago, but recived my new notebook only a few day ago. I immidiately downloaded and played Wc Saga and... oh my god!
I couldn't belive my eyes and ears.
The game looks fantastic, but more than the graphic part, I enjoyed the whole experience a lot. I don't know how you did it, but you have managed to recreate the WC univere in a truly fantastic way......particularly the battles are just the right difficulty on normal setting (I'm ashamed to say it, since I consider myself a good pilot, but the first dogfight, I got blown from the sky in the first pass by a pirate
), the missions look great and realistic and the whole package is what I always immagined WC to should be.
Having read a few posts, I would like to make a few considerations:
1) I have read the whole argument about the laser turrets on capships doing to little damage, that ship lenght and so one...
Personally, I think you have managed to balance pretty well the whole thing....
On medium setting, cpu fighters are very hard to get because they attack like a real formation an if you are not good and know what to do, you get blown from the sky in 1 minute.
Also, (on medium difficulty)
FINALLY, (and this is the first WC game I can say that for) Capships are very good at defending themselfs and are moderately difficult to destroy. This is very realistic because it was illogical l to bring down a capship with just 1 fighter (like in wc1,2,3,4,prophecy). In this aspet I can say your game is easily better than any other original wc game I have ever played, including the various mods.
Of course, a lonely destroyer can get in real trouble if attacked by 3-4 heavy fighters with torpedos, but I am happy to see that finally, when you attack a capship protected by a few corvettes and destroyers and fighters, you get a "warm welcome" from CROSSFIRE which is usually VERY LETAL to slow moving targets like a bomber; forceing you to do the mission "sistematically"...first fighter cover, then turrets, then torpedo, then By-By pirate
Maybe the Saga TEAM should only consider placeing a few(2) more turrets on destroyers to make them more "survivable" (but of course, this is a subject for wc saga testers to decide)
The whole idea of having to wear down the capship by destroying the turrets in a certain part, to make it an easier target, is GREAT and ULTRAREALISTIC. No more 1 torpedo Fire and forget...on medium difficulty, capships are very good on bringing it down before it hits.
I am so pleased with WC SAGA that I decided I will also send you my lines for voice acting as soon as I can...I am not english, so I speak with an accent, but I think it would be nice to have a good variety of different pilots voices in the final relese, giving it a realistic touch, after all, not all fighterpilots in wc universe are from england/earth, right?
By the way...I know that it takes time to do this game and that it is a Free-time project..... and playing the Prologue I probably don't even know how much time and effort you put into it, but if it's true that the final product will be finished only in 2-3 years.....well,then I'm simply going to die
...expecially since EA (
) doesn't want to revive wc because it doesn't earn them enough money.
You are (in a sense, no pressure though
) the only hope for our community of having a
TRUE wc game in years, complete with internet playing between real squadrons.
