i have attempted to play the first FS the great war on online and it won't let me connect to any online matches

Hmm, you mean you have the actual FS1 Retail?  That won't work online; PXO doesn't work... for a direct IP or whatever, that might work, IDK.

If you have FS2_Open and are running the FS1 port you can play online though. You'll have problems finding people to play with though.

If you post a date for a match you might find enough people willing to play.

Ok. You can. But you need to get other people playing with the FS1 modpack before you can play. In addition, you'll get a "YOU ARE PLAYING WITH HACKED TABLES AND YOUR STATS WILL NOT BE SAVED" message.

Just select FSPort in the mod tab?

Yep. It's that simple. Get together a bunch of people who have the port. Get them all to select the port in the launcher. Run the game and start up multiplayer same as you would with FS2_Open (There's a FAQ in the multiplayer forum on how to do that).

You'll get a message about hacked tables but you'd have gotten that anyway playing with the mediavps. If you all ignore it you'll be fine.
