What gives better performance?
A model uses two animated glowmaps (12 and 18 frames) and has 6 textures on it in total (+normal&shine) but its not that high poly so it only has LOD 0. Will it have any positive effect to add a LOD 1 for it with 2 different (non-glowmapped versions) textures applied to it? (So that would bring the total textures to 8, 6 to LOD 0 and 2 to LOD1). On one side it adds more textures to a model on the other side it prevents animated glowmaps from being on screen at a range where you won't be seeing them anyway.
What's the better way to go?

Edit, answered in irc. disregard this thread.

Re: What gives better performance?
in my useless opinion any model should have a full set of LOD's , even if the last one is a black triangle ...;;

So what was the answer?

Re: What gives better performance?
Less textures = better
Mipmaps make the performance hit of animated glowmaps at longer range moot
