Have you tried Goob's tutorial for nameplates? It covers only Orion nameplates, but I think that other nameplates are even easier because there is no background texture.

Also, is your nameplate with a depth of 8-bit?

No, the nameplates that won't show up are from various campaigns that I'm playing. They are not of my creation
