So I followed the instructions on setting up MP.. and it all seems to work fine.

Minus the part about consistently telling me that I'm using Hacked files - which I think i'm supposed to ignore.. right? (I installed retail FS2 then patch 1.2 - then I used the SCP installer for the rest - yes - the most recent one).

However, I checked multiple times during the day and there didn't seem to be any games up. I guess you gotta scheduale them on this board or something?

I'll try to clarify.

I installed Freespace 2 Retail from the CDs. I downloaded and installed Patch 1.2.

I then downloaded the windows Freespace SCP installer. I downloaded everything else through there - the whole 3.6.9 ... uhm.. everything.

I followed the instructions, made my account on FS2DNET or whatever it is called. I logged on by following the instructions (Creating a multi character, then under PXO entering in my FS2DNET login/password) and I connected.

I just found no games up last night. At all.

Yes I did forward my ports.

Yeah FS2 Multiplayer is slow at the moment because the standalone server code is currently broken. I expect things to pick up a lot once it's fixed in 3.6.10.

Maybe we'll all get on multi by then. That would definitely be awesome to have a bunch of HLP and GW people in a game.

Nope. Make sure you turn off mods in the launcher before you play multi.

Actually you can ignore or turn off mods as you wish. It depends on whether saving stats or looking pretty is more important to you. IF you're playing with a host who has got his media VPs active then it's pointless turning yours off as you still won't save stats.
