my network prof likened tcp/ip packets to a big truck.  You have the header (cab) that tells the entire packet where to go, and then you have the payload (trailer) that contains all the stuff you want.

Think I will have to move from Gothenburg to karlstad or maybe just wait a few months until the 100Mbit connection is extended to my house

There's an obvious question that nobody's asking: where are the servers that could fully exploit your giant-ass connection? A 40GB/s transfer speed is purely theoretical.
