Had I been Mobius I would have written something like "De abandonatione comunitatis" or some other Latin stuff :P

Anyway, you may have noticed that spamming about airplanes has decreased a lot lately. That's because I started university, and now I don't have much time to wander here (actually, I don't have much time to even use my PC, since I have 10 hours of lessons per day, +2 hours of travelling between home and uni, +1 or more hours to study ecc.).
Don't worry, this does not mean that you won't see Steadfast: I have officially transferred command to Mobius, now he is the official Steadfast project leader. But I'm sorry for the other projects I was working on (like INFASA, now I don't have any time to beta test :sigh:).

I hope to finish everything in 5 years, and by then I want to see what you'll have done to FS ;7
Good luck to everybody here!

First of all, fare well and good luck with your studies.

Next, is there really such a huge difference between Italian and Finnish universities? 10 hours of lessons a day? I had two hours yesterday. And I had this week's Tuesday off. Oh well. Maybe that's the reason why I'm progressing so slowly.

Yeah, 10 hours of lectures per day? :wtf: Around 15 hours per week is pretty standard at all the places I've seen. I had around that much as an undergraduate (and ended up daydreaming or falling asleep half the time :p), and now have 3 or 4.

Well... I start lessons at 8:15 AM and finish at 6:15 PM... subtract 1 hour of break (well... we all have to eat :D) and it's 9 hours of lessons. Yes, some days I have more than an hour of break due to missing lessons, and some days I start between 9:15 AM and 11:15 AM, but basically this is my schedule... and it's only the beginning of the first year...

BTW, I'm doing aerospace engineering (what would you have expected from me?), and until january I have Chemistry, Math Analysis and Institutions of Aerospace Engineering (not sure about the translation of the last subject, but basically it's an explanation of physics related to flight).

Wow, only three classes and they still last that long? That sounds like a pretty killer schedule and is quite different from any university system I have seen.

My undergrad days were fairly long (not as long as what you're saying, although like you I spent about a hour in commute each way), but in most semesters I had arranged for my all classes to be on two days of the week and didn't need to go at all on the other three days. It was just as well, since that time was necessary for getting all the work done. Now I can pretty much go whenever I like, as nobody really cares about the courses or grades here as long as you get through the PhD qualifying exams.

That's bad news... even if I had already been given the unofficial communication.
Damn, with your "departure" we lose the 33,3% of the main team... that's terrible! Sure you won't find time to use the university computers for some good fredding?
Ok, ok... i was joking... Well, we'll try to  create a good campaign also without our old "Project Leader"... you'll be proud of us!
I'll avoid all the "good luck for university"-s since you received them already too many times via MSN..

Yes, that would have been the name

Attending an University here is stressing. Too many hours per day and too many years(two of my cousins needed almost 10 years! :nervous:) R.I.P. Giorgio "Darth DySkO" V.!

I start university (medicine!) in 1 week time... and i know i will take at least 6 years to get the basic degree... 10 to get a specialistic degree...  i hope i will not post here something similar to DySkO's... :nervous:

Mobius, the R.I.P. is a bit excessive... we'll use him for consulting-only purposes...

I will spend about 4 years at the Academy, but I think I will have to wait a little bit before piloting a fighter. Less than 6-10 years I suppose, though I will have little time to spend with my family(I have never heard of pilots returning back home for dinner...every day).

I forgot to say that on monday I do not have any lessons :D. I think this evens out the number of hours.

I will take at least 3 years to get the basic degree, but since the chances of finding a job are quite low I'll have to get the specialistic degree (at least 2 more years). Then I hope to find a job at Aermacchi, Alenia, AgustaWestland, Piaggio or whatever italian company works on planes or choppers. If I don't succeed, I heard that Airbus is looking for engineers...

BTW, we'll learn to use CATIA. Who knows... maybe there is a FS plugin for CATIA :drevil:

Good Luck with School!

And I thought I had it bad...in class about 10 hours per week...of course I'm at the college with the greatest course load in the United States so lots of homework and papers and stuff...

That's some respite I suppose. Still, 10 hours of lectures a day would have me dozing through most of them. :p

4 years for a bachelor's degree is standard in most countries (although 3 is doable; I took that long), but I think engineering programs do often take 5 in practice.

In some ways, yes, but there are obvious benefits to commuting from home if the place you're going to is close enough. You save quite a bit of money and get a much better place to stay. I don't regret doing so at all. Even now, I got an apartment in the local area since the dorms looked terrible (the top schools also seem to have the worst dorms; I guess they know people will come there anyway :p) and weren't all that much cheaper.

Well, I know what general area I want to work in and have started looking at some questions in it, although it's too early to say whether they will lead anywhere. The entire track takes 4-5 years, although I'll get about a year's head start by doing those qualifying exams early.

I'm spending 10-14 hours a day, 3 days/week at college this semester.

The most important thing is to get the basics down. You really don't want to be going through a 12-hour day without sufficient sleep, food, or water.
