Those were my first exposure to Freespace 2, and they were jaw-dropping. I loved them.

I think they're probably canon since they're V-made. Are there any known contradictions contained within them?

This must be one of the rare occasions where the demo's did not appear in the game. Most companies release the first level or so of the game as a demo, I can't think of anywhere else where the demo is a seperate part of the story.

Jedi Outcast is another one. The demo had abso-****ing-lutely nothing to do with the story of the actual game. Though they had cleverly picked voice files here and there so that the dialogue sounded mostly coherent.

V didn't use the exact same two missions in FS2 that they did in the demo, but some of the missions did make something of an appearance.

Crimson Skies = The Great Hunt + Speaking In Tongues

Essentially, both missions are about hunting down and destroying Shivan warships in the nebula. The Vasudan mission where you try to draw out the Sathanas is the closest to the original mission.

Crisis in Capella = Exodus

"Alpha, this is the Adamant. The Armaros is down but the Balam remains at full strength. The Shivans are launching bombers now."
"Okay, we're on it, Adamant. The Psamtik will be here momentarily. We'll keep them covered until help arrives."

In Exodus, "We have destroyed the Abraxis but the Shivans will not relent."
"Maintain your escort of the transports. The 70th Blue Lions are here to assist."

        Are those demo missions available anywhere? It's been ages since I played them. And likewise, it was the first exposure I had to Freespace. Bought Freespace 2 soon afterwards, then after  having played that picked up FS1+Silent Threat bundle. But ST was crap for the most part. I hated the mission where you just go and kill like 4 Atens, I like the Vasudans damnit. Killing four ships without them doing anything is lame.
