We're only looking at it head on now. Unless it's rotating at the same speed the sun is orbiting the centre of the Milky Way we aren't likely to be looking at it head on when it goes off anyway.

Meh, the Sun will cause the oceans to vaporize in 0.5-1 billion years anyway and spell end to life on Earth as we know it. And that's pretty much a known fact. Also, the headline is a tautology anyway, since historically the death toll has been horribly high during a specimen's life...

Of course, the faster we get self-sustainable big space ship building capacity, the better. Raising hell from this kind of random threats would be cool, if it were used to increase the funds of space flight research.

I say we build an Orion as soon as possible. Or perhaps just install covers, engines, life support and living quarters to Eiffel tower... :lol:
