Finished mass effect 3.  Unsure what to play now.  Options are STALKER Call of Pripyat, Bioshock, Red Faction Armageddon, Fallout New Vegas, Borderlands 2, FEAR 3, the X series, or KOTOR.  Or, replay other games with mods/supermaxed graphics with my new GTX 670.  I think I should finally be able to max out the Crysis-es with no stuttering ever.  There was some promising work going on with Far Cry that should probably be ready to go by now.  Might play STALKER Clear Sky again with Complete for giggles, but wasn't really a big fan of Complete on Shadow of Chernobyl.  Maybe if I can figure out how to remove the annoying parts.  I'm also behind in FSO mods, but the mood to fly hasn't struck me in quite a while.

The first Knights of the Old Republic was very good.  BioWare didn't try to shoehorn in the now-obligatory forced storyline romance, the setting is Star Wars uncorrupted by George Lucas, and it very well captures the high fantasy feel of the original trilogy despite introducing a bit of granularity to the nuts and bolts of the universe.

The second one played with a lot of cool moral ambiguity, but the utter lack of an ending was disappointing.

Meaning: he didn't direct it, unlike the prequels.  At best he only put the stamp on it that read "George Lucas approved" and didn't think about it again.

EDIT: Which is all just a roundabout way of saying that it doesn't suck like the prequels did.

 How did Lucas corrupt Star Wars? I want a through, well made argument that does not fall into the old: "THE PREQUELS SUCK" argument, please.
 The Clone Wars CGI cartoon is better than all the ExpUni nonsense that has been made in more than a decade. Why? because Lucas is there so they don't mindlessly contradict canon.
"HURR. Let's have Jedi bring down multi-Kilometer ships using only the plotforce!"
 And don't get me started on Dark Empire.

The Clone Wars CGI cartoon conflicts more canon than it generates.

I'm not going to pretend that all Star Wars canon is good (it's not, by quite a large margin), but I'm also not going to pretend that the prequels are anything more than a bad love story about an abusive relationship that features a block of wood with anger issues and Natalie Portman as the aforementioned couple.

Additionally, George Lucas isn't the guy who deals with what contradicts what in Star Wars canon.  That particularly thankless job falls to a person named Leland Chee.

Why attack of the clones sucked

Why the revenge of the sith sucked

You have a couple of hours of very good entertainment there, I recommend watching it solely because of the jokes if not because of the in-depth review.

Decided on STALKER.  This developer really doesn't learn from their mistakes do they?  Immediately upon starting, noticed that the design hasn't advanced at all since the first one.  The only obvious differences being a different background image for the home screen and a new HUD layout.  The voiced dialogue/subtitles disparity has gotten much worse, based on the opening cutscene.  That horrifying head bob is still there, and still no in-game option to turn it off.  To ModDB I go.  And it's looking like they still don't code worth a crap.  Haven't hit any crashes or bugs yet since I just started, but based on what I've seen so far, it looks worse than CS, about on par with SOC, but doesn't perform any better.  As long as they didn't seriously **** up the gameplay, it'll still be fun, it's just what I'd read so far whilst figuring out how to make the previous two playable made it sound like COP was significantly upgraded and more polished.

I like the CGI Clone Wars episodes, I like to think of them as a separate universe than what the 'canon' is.

PS: In the recent episodes, I was hoping to see Dxun, but I don't think I will. It would've been a great homage back to KOTOR II. I guess the city of Isis will do.
