Since I have just learned that a few of my peers, who had been doing an occupation in order to force the directors of their university to the negotiation table, have succeeded in doing so. This makes me very happy.

I've been watching another discussion between some politicians on TV and just couldn't continue because of the amount of hate and contempt shown by all of the participants. Reading this forum is a like a breath of fresh air. If you ignore the occasional flaming, it's a really nice place. Or maybe I've just explored the wrong side of the Internets before.

HLP's a community of Human beings, so naturally we have quarrels. But considering all factors (and comparing most of the internet) we're definitely a community to be proud of.

I'm just going to put it out there that another board I'm a member on has never once had any amount of flaming on it.  I'm the sole admin/moderator and the only time I've used the powers therein are to ban two spammers and crack the occasional joke.  It was born out of flames, but we've even had leaders of the opposing side eventually stop by and nothing bad came of that.  So it is in fact possible.  With a smaller membership though.

Yeah, I don't really get why "more members = better" / need for constant growth. I mean yes, HLP wants to be the English-language FreeSpace forum, and I don't particularly have a problem with that. But... idk derp.

Welp, I just sent an email to the "Now Headteacher" - "Then Deputy Head" of my old secondary school, thanking him for the massive amounts of support he gave me throughout my time there, massively reducing the severity of the bullying I was subjected to throughout my school years.

I also asked him for a job as a lab tech or equivalent. Hey, don't ask don't get. Right?

Doing a malware scan. Thing says database was 295 days out of date. Read: I haven't done a scan in 295 days. It's found 2 things so far, but I don't think I'll get to see what they are until it finishes
