This was my first true space sim.

Can anybody recognise it?

so many fond memories: beautibul ships, the rexxon 2 gargantuan dreadnaughts, the rexxon warbirds, the rexxon kraider frigates, the human battleships redstorm and battleaxe, and a desperate move to move all humans beyond reach of an impending supernova. GENIUS!

Heh... i actually missed that one... I was still too going with Elite and then moved to wing commander and x-wing...

Hmmm... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_%28computer_game%29 of course wiki is not too reliable source but... the very first bsg game?

Oddly enough, reading this thread just got me to play Dosbox Elite Plus again, fun, but my DosBox needs tweaking, the frame rate is still a bit high and I can't steer for toffee.

This, of course, means figuring out how to do that...

True it was quite influenced by BSG (did you see the redstorm?), however, it stayed unique in it's kind of way.

Oh, and it was the first space sim ever to feature atmospheric missions, so in some characteristics, it was ahead of wing commander. :) Who'd have thought?

That's one, and if you liked it, I definately recommend you check out the sequel, inferno.

Killed by WC3, but a great game nevertheless.
