SETI@Home is a farce...

anyone ever noticed that the entire thing can continue to run in offline mode...  you dont even need to connect to upload your 'analysed' data

Apparently it d/l the data and you analyse it in the background, then upload it.  If you don't then that packet gets sent to someone else.

The site is down now because the entire building that seti is run in, is down.  They're doing some construction up there and the contractor accidently cut the fiber cable.  In theory, it should be up again tomorrow.

No... it says some vandals cut the line while looking for copper  

 
And thaey haven't been able to fix it yet cause of bad weather.
