An X-Wing body with TIE wings...assuming those are TIE Fighter and not Interceptor wings, anyone see a functionality issue there?

Hehe, yes I'll be doing more of these, I'm currently normal mapping Tura's X-Wing and when I'm done that I'll probably start giving it some inbred bastard children of its own

looked up some stuff at wookiepedia, found this:

and in fact, there was x-wing bodies with normal TIE wings. twin (non-TIE) laser cannons were put on in place of the X's warhead launchers, thouhg often the x's lasers were mounted on the body. though, frankly, that seems pointless, because having the body and lasers implies you have a whole X in the first place.

Hey, I would think that the DIE would be pretty decent. It's got the massive Y-Wing engines without the massive Y-Wing weight slowing it down. 'Course, it's been a while since I read the novels; that's just my thought. Looks sweet though for a flying target though.

DIEs aren't called DIEs without a reason. Its cause you DIE in them more often than not.
Its actually got 4 engines (the two from the TIE and two from the Y), but no solar panels to power them...which means...it probably can't get much juice for its systems.

TYE-wings combined the ball cockpit and wing braces of the TIE Fighter with the engine nacelles from the Y-wing. They were armed with two TIE fighter laser cannons, usually had a functional TIE sensor package, and had fair maneuverability. Unfortunately, they had no shields, and although they were faster than many uglies, they were quite slow compared to most mass-produced fighters.

The TYE-wing essentially combined the key weaknesses of both the TIE fighter and the Y-wing, yet had the strengths of neither. Many pilots dubbed them "DIE-wings", as the survival rate of TYE-Wing pilots was appallingly low.

lol yeah, I guess I forgot that the Y-Wing's power source was on that part that the ugly doesn't have.

one would think they would use the Y-TIE, with the Y's body and the tie's solar panels, 'twas supposedly far better... but these were made from spare parts or scavenged from crashed fighters... i wouldn't be surprised if few of the tie's solar panels survied the crash...

Well, the point of uglies is a lack of parts.  If they had the engines of the Y Wing, the Body of a Y Wing, the solar panels of a TIE and the Body of a TIE, they probably wouldn't make 2 inbred hybrids, they'd probably just rebuild a Y-Wing and a TIE Fighter.

They're desparation designs.
