Jesus. Christ. I've kept my mouth shut, but GUYS. NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO DO WITH FREESPACE 2!!!!! Jesus, it's like every thread I go into it's "That was an excellent movie, I applaud the director's vision" and five posts down it's "OMG IT WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER IF THE SHIVANS WERE IN IT LOL :drevil:!!!!". Just STOP. Goddamn.

Who said anything about shivans? He mentioned a TC, implying a standalone, shivanless universe. Also, it`s not like it will happen anyways.

It's the fact that he wants an Animorphs Freespace mod! It's like your guys' lives revolve around taking everything and somehow turning it into something Freespace, and if anything new comes along in the space sim genre, it's immediately is "ripping off Freespace".

This forum has gone from a close knit community of dedicated modders for an old and beloved game, to a forum full of obsessive fanbois who haven't been playing the game for longer than a year or two.

I've not been here for very long, but I do have to agree that trying to make everything into a FS mod of some sort is slowly wearing out.

Besides, the Animorphs would never work.

Hell yes...

Silly idea for a FS mod that will NEVER be made:
If we can get it together and draw some consistant concept art and find some capable modelers, then we could make an Animorphs TC...

But that will NEVER happen...EVER

You fail to realise that this thing happens in every single mod community. Freelancer was just as bad, except they made a proboards forum, got some coders together, and wrote up a pre-alpha with NEW SYSTEMS OMG before realising how unbelievably retarded it was.

Me too, it's really good with that sweet mustard sauce.

But more importantly it would give us a way to feed people on Earth, if we could figure out some way to get it back here.

It would also make for some great science fiction...

"Sam had long dreamed of making his way to the Asparagus colonies of Mars. It had taken him nine years, hard work, and a significant portion of his life savings to earn passage on the space liner - but here he finally was. He closed his eyes and lay back in the soft chair. He could almost see it now - the towering stalks of Asparagus, swaying slowly in the shallow atmosphere of Mars, a healthy green beneath the warm red tint of the sky. He'd managed to haggle a sizable plot of land, with a space bubble big enough for a small family. His kids, too, would grow up to be famous Asparagus farmers, taking their father's of Empire of green gold to Venus, possibly even Mercury."

Trouble is the Martian atmosphere is extremely thin.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

oh pish, I think we can handle rebuilding it, especially considering what it's made of.

Mars attacks and x-com lead me to believe they're grey. Where is your source material? ;D
On a lighter note, could this lead to an algae style terraform like that film with the killer monkey robot on loan from the marines?

I only watched it properly from the doc before Tennant. Anyway companions tend to become call girls according to ITV.
