Looks like a good Terran design...if a bit blocky even by Terran standards in its rough state.
Hmm...what mythology hasn't been pillaged to high heaven and back? Maybe something Norse?
Edit: Ooh...don't know if we have a Gungnir yet, but that rough design looks rather spearhead-like.
It needs a good bit of rotating and stretching to get the shape down-pat. My next portion be to draw a 2D "front" to this design: and then extrude portions of it to smooth various features. It won't be anywhere near as blocky, and of course there are thousands of greebles to consider. Pretty self-explanatory where everything goes, and the tri-engine setup in the back I am really considering minimizing to have the left and right "spikes" shortened and made to look useful (perhaps figure the dimensions of a countermeasure). I will probably employ a basic very-inner and very-outer setup for primaries--if not having 2 primary spots directly below the cockpit. The alternative is to mount primaries on top of the big blocky fronts: I can greeble a "Universal Mount and Armor" or similar onto there without too much trouble. I was also considering the weapons setup--maybe a smaller range of secondaries but a larger energy for primaries. The Myrmidon has 3 banks--perhaps cut out a small bank and call ammo even, or cut some stock in the largest bank. In addition to that, either 4 or 5 total gunpoints: I am considering 5, having two on the outer portions and then three mounted around the cockpit: one on each side and one directly below. It'd be different, but the narrow angles workable.
Definitely make a cockpit for it. I think it also may need some missile exit areas, as the only real areas at the moment are those squarey blocks at the front, and it would seem a bit silly to have everything coming out of there...but keep it flat - it's sort of like a Ulysses and Loki combined.
You could call it a Ukeloki...
I may keep it flat, or at least mostly flat. I have plenty of details to add. The good things are I'm very comfortable with AutoCAD's 3D functions in comparison to TrueSpace or Blender. I'll do that 2D front blueprint and even out the design: it'll have some more "modern" feels to it--less block, but definitely more on the sharp edges for ease of manufacturing. A secondary idea to this is it can be stacked similarly to a Ulysses--when I start removing portions, it'll take on a similar winged appearance, but will incorporate a GTVA sitting cockpit and have standardized "weapons pods". I will greeble the hell out of this: I have the tools, so my only problem is remembering this after having used this program last about 6 months ago.
I am going to re-do the extrusions: I need to even it all out for the front-view 2D, so I can subtract portions as necessary. I won't be doing much in the way of free-form modeling on this: the NTF is in dire need of a fast and easy-to-build fighter. For the purposes overall, this could be used as an NTF or Sol fighter, or even a cheap GTVA fighter. It will be weaker, but not by much.
