I agree with Kara. Thats the problem that happened with Skippy's campaign list. When Skippy became inactive, everyone kept relying on his list while it was long out-of date.

I agree.

That list is also an easy way to solve campaign bugs and read other people's opinions about plots and such. You have a problem other people have surely experienced? No problem: read the campaign release thread and look for a quick solution. I also accept links to campaign release threads in SG, GW and other FreeSpace fan sites - there's no reason to keep them out from the list.

One more thing: Moderators and Administrators can always add a link and a small description to the list, if possible. Giving the thread-specific purpose of this thread, however, it'll be pretty hard to miss a lot of stuff. Campaign release threads are pretty rare.

I'll tell you for free that I won't be doing that. My entire point is that I won't be doing that and I'll back up any other mod or admin who says "Get stuffed" to anyone PMing them to do that. Getting PMs to add campaigns to a list is a needless, stupid annoyance.  The entire point of my post was that we should AVOID needless, stupid annoyances.

Wow, I thought this was kind of neat for all of two seconds, until I remembered there's a wiki page set up for this exact purpose.  Seriously, why duplicate the effort?  Anyone can edit the wiki, if you don't know how, you can find anyone who can, not all of two or three people to do it for you.  Or you can learn how without needing to bother anyone at all.

The point is that only a few members check the Wiki. Most people ask for help in the forums while they can easily find the answers they need in the Wiki. A simple list in the forums would surely focus the attention of the most...also:

Yeah, the most appropriate idea would be to have a stickied thread with a direct link to the Wiki campaign list(we have it, in fact) but still I think threads have their importance for multiple reasons. Chief, you can't find hints and quick bug fixes in the Wiki. I'm afraid campaign pages aren't even updated enough to have that kind of info...and they don't cover plot related stuff.

What ensures that this can/will be updated any more rapidly?  If you want it updated, update it!  It's a Wiki FFS!  Wikipedia articles are some of the most rapidly updated content on the internet, because it's EASY to do it.  All it takes is more people telling other people to put it on the wiki.  It's one thing to make a whole article yourself, but when it's already there and it just needs a little copy and paste for a quick addition, come on, that's way easier, and there's no reason this should be any easier than the Wiki.  It's just some retarded stigma people have in their heads about it.

You linked to a campaign list of the wiki, but there are actually 4 of them. You took a not-so-complete one.

 I tried to regroup the 3 of them (50% of the campaign listed) and then add all the campaigns I could find. My aim was to actually have one list instead of 3 (it failed as of now, so now we have 4 lists instead    ) and also to have a REALLY up-to-date and comprehensive one (I believe this is a success).

Believe me, I'd agree with you if only the Wiki was widely used. It's unknown to the most...only the forums are quite crowded(I refer to newcomers, they're the ones who need directives).


IMO everything we need is as stickied thread here that links to the Wiki Campaign List. That'll surely be helpful. I can edit the first post...
