Great job, I've been waiting with replaying FS1 till this got out :D Just one question though - the GTD Orion, Galatea and Bastion are all fine, however all other named Orions have stock models. Will this ever get fixed ? I doubt it's much work for people who have at least some tiny bit of knowledge about graphics and mediavps (so not me :P), especially since this was fixed in the mediavps for FS2... It's only annoying in the ST, and since tomorrow (or today, since it's past midnight here) we're getting the ST:R, that's not much of a problem. Just a suggestion for future releases though.

In order to do that and maintain retail compatibility, we need to use a SCP feature that won't be added until work begins on 3.6.11.  That's one of the first things on the 3.6.11 SCP to-do list.

Although, I personally like the retail Orions better than the HTL ones. :D

bleh, it would be acceptable if the low-poly Orions used glowmaps, but they don't.

There's a TBM you can make with entries like so:

This will use the high poly glowy models but lose nameplates.

And then you can use the Texture replace in a mission copy to add the nameplate.

The supar sekret feature mentioned earlier is to get Texture Replace to work in the Table TBM files.

  • Please, please, please, READ and UNDERSTAND the sticky threads in FreeSpace & FreeSpace Open Support board.
    A lot of people are willing to help you, but, as anyone can understand, seeing the very same "issues" repeated again and again can become quite depressing. Please, spend a bit of time trying to solve the issue by yourself.
    (Lobo deserves a monument).
  • Then, if you aren't still able to solve your issue, feel free to ask for help in that same board.
    FYI, most of the troubles are caused by wrong mod installations which lead to either missing data or undesired cross-effects between them. Always follow the mod installation instructions and keep a clean FS2 installation as explained in the sticky threads. Two additional links about how the game handles game data:
  • If you think that you've discovered a bug, mantis it.
    Provide as much info as you can, and try to narrow it down. A lonely "FS2 doesn't work" is not a good report.

FS2 Open: Unzip to a new 'fsport' directory in your Freespace2 directory, and select it from the Mods tab of the launcher.
If using the FSPort Media VPs, unzip them to a new 'fsport-mediavps' directory in your FreeSpace2 folder. Be sure that you have the 3.6.10 MVPs installed in 'mediavps' and you're using a 3.6.10 build. If you're playing a mod that uses FSPort, add 'fsport-mediavps' to the mod.ini just before 'fsport' in the SecondaryMod line.
I take it right that you have to add 'fsport-mediavps' to the mod.ini of the MOD you are playing. But if I do that for ST:R it says: "Invalid MOD ini multiple mod parameter, only -mod calls are allowed". What did I do wrong?  :confused:

Change the fsport-mediavps file name to something else without the "-" I.E. fsportmvps.
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets

EDITED: Another small issue for fsport mediavp.

EDITED 2: Dragon is also a FS2 ship so this table should go in Mediavps 3.6.10 (SF Dragon) AND/OR port (#weakened, #Terrans). Dragon gets fixed through MediaVPs settings, so its entry in the proposed table is redundant, the other two ships should be fixed in FS Port media vp.

Dragon LOD 1 is so horrible that looks bad even in the target window.

I would use the next -shp.tbm in order to fix it:

This is already in the MV_Core. But because it is not also duplicated in mv_assets, it doesn't carry over. The Port (#Weakened and #Terran) ones should be fine though.
