"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Well, when you look at it objectively, you realize that it doesn't matter if you believe in the truth or not - it doesn't change the truth. So, if there is a hell, it doesn't matter what religon you are - if you're going there, it'll be the same as a hell-bound person of another, different, religon.

Did that make sense?

Oh, and Styxx: Do you have to have that in your Location: field? I mean, c'mon - seriously! :D

It made sort of some sense... I'll give your argument a 7 on a 0-10 scale... :D (my point is, people from satanic religions and cults might actually enjoy the idea of going to hell... =p

IMHO only because they don't truly realize - no one does, I think - what hell will be like. And personally, I'll settle for not finding out first-hand, thank you very much! :p

He's the whole US and a very very wide Pacific Ocean away from me...and still I can drive him nuts! Ahhhh the wonders of the Internet! :D
Truthfully, we do post a whole lot! I looked at the HL forum this morning and the whole first page and part of the next one I hadn't read at all. :jaw: There's a lot to read out there...

Oh and Sandwich: I'm so glad that you're back because that means you weren't the Israeli soldier on the cover of the New York Times this morning...welcome back to the ranks of civilians!
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

There's this metaphor for heaven and hell that I really like.

Hell is a beautiful place, with huge tables full of the best food and beverages you can find. But everyone has his arms twisted backwards, in a way the hand cannot reach the mouth, and everyone suffers of thirst and hunger, even more for having all the food and drinks there and not being able to get them.

Heaven is exactly like that, but each one helps the next person to eat and drink, and everyone is happy.
