Re: Ambitions, dreams... do they help?
Ambition isn't a bad thing, the bad thing that comes with ambition are things like arrogance and superior attitude.

Like how you're trying to tell people they'll go to hell if they don't join up with your religion because you're right and they're wrong.

Look, I'm sorry, but you were just asking for that.

I'll be blunt, I can speak from experience that ambition is a good thing, because I almost completely lack ambition.  It's the main reason I'm 31 years old(this past friday), living at home with nothing but a pointless AS degree that took me 7 years to earn and about $50 in the bank, which btw is why I don't, and never have had a friend of the female persuasion in that way, I have nothing to offer.  So trust me when I say, ambition is a good thing and I pray to God I wish I had some.

Many names, but always me.

Without setting goals in life, we would do nothing to achieve those goals, and then we wouldn't be doeing a lot.

Exactly, my ambition/passion/goal is the only reason I do anything school/intellectual related. Otherwise I would just sit at home and gain weight ;)

Ambition is good to keep you rolling along.  I have a few ambitions but none of them are career related actually.  Maybe that will change later on but right now I have confused and conflicting priorities relating to dating, career, and personal goals.  I'm moving up a bit now...slowly but surely....but not feeling like I'm very far ahead yet.

Life would be incredibly boring without ambition and vaguely impossible dreams that just might be doable.
Words ought to be a little wild, for they are the assaults of thoughts on the unthinking.

Slow and steady wins the race. So long as you're doing something to work towards your final goal, you'll get there. This involves a lot of self reflection as to what you really want to do in life. For instance, it took me five years of setbacks and pain to get into my grad degree, and I must have learned more about myself in those five years than the previous twenty before that.
