I used to like Firefox until recently when I noticed: It takes up a ****load of memory (!!), crashes randomly, cannot load certain sites and all its features are now included in other browsers.


TBH I think even IE could be better than Firefox in its current sorry state.

I use Opera. It's more stable and (appears to be) faster than IE. That's the browser I can suggest.

Sad to hear it. I can't say that I agree (I have not experienced any of the issues you describe), but in the end, you got to have tools that you can trust implicitly, even if they come from Microsoft.

I use Safari. According to Apple, its 2x faster than Firefox.

And I have had experience with FF's memory problems a while back when I used it. Not fun.

Firefox is definitely a memory hog, especially if you're like me and leave it open for weeks at a time (I've seen it go beyond 500MB). However, Adblock and Flashblock make it much better than any other browser in my book. Some sites are borderline unusable these days without them.

I haven't had any issues with stability or site compatibility recently. The bug where it used to corrupt its own profile has not occurred in a long time now.

i have firefox but only use it when i need to run things that wont run in opera , ie windows updates and IE plugin stuff, i used to use firefox all the time but as other ppl have said after numerous crashes i switched to opera, and it is as  quick if not quicker has enough features to keep me happy including mail and irc chat and has a great tile feature.

so all in all i wish firefox would return to what it was a fast and feature packed browser with good stability , i suppose ill just have to wait and see

Until somebody can come up with a better web-dev app than Firebug, and an ad-blocker as useful and intuitive as Adblock, I'll keep using Firefox.

Chrome!
I like Chrome 2.0 beta better than Firefox, Opera and Safari. It doesn't yet have extensions but I have no need for them. It does use some RAM, but that is mainly because each tab is its own separate process which has good advantages.

(To get Chrome 2.0 you need to switch to beta channel.)

Until they port chrome to my choice of OS, I'll not test it.

And I pretty much prefer Opera, not so much that I don't think a browser is a browser, I just like the features that Opera ships with. They seem to have the only browser I've tried that gets mouse gestures right.

I blame flash for most of the random crashage, though, if not all of them.

Safari has a plugin called PithHelmet, which blocks pretty much every ad there is. Been flawless for me, so far.

I have 2gb of memory, so I don't care. It doesn't really crash all that often for me, and it's more secure than IE, and plus I love the extensions. So nye.
