For those of you that didn't attend a few HLP Londons ago (FOR SHAME!) you failed to witness one of my favourite HLP moments to date. Amidst the boozing bankers and commuters of my fair capital, an elite few were crammed into a corner area perving over Galemps netbook ogling <CLASSIFIED TO SAVE MY NECK FROM GALEMPS DISCIPLINE MACHETE>. I realised at that point, wait a sec.... All this time i spend in the pub, i could be modelling and fredding....

So i'm on the look for a netbook that wioll run>

Photoshop
MAx 932 bit - (no rendering, just construction)
TS 2,3,4,5,6,7 (I love TS, so sue me)
Lithunwrap, (No brainer, my phone can run Lithunwrap)
Fred - (Don't worry, i'll try SCP over a retail install, no mediavp's for obvious reasons

(Using my own CD's converted to an Image, it's all legal, read the blarb)
and PCS2 of course

My budget ideally will be under 350 UK dollars......or pounds.

Galemps Advent (IIRC) was SUH-WEEEEEEET. Tiny mouse, so cute...

Opinons etc?

I'd wait a while, I read on AnandTech that netbooks may be coming out with dedicated graphics cards. I'd suggest maybe an MSI Wind or an Asus EEE PC.

My Eee PC 904HA boasts a theoretic 5.9h battery life (in practice over 4h).

The 1000HA is a good choice, I have one and it's a superb PC.

Don't have / haven't used those programs, so no idea. But the general specs are
- Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
- 1GB DDR2
- Intel UMA GPU
- 160 GB HDD.

Being a thingy that uses RAM, not that well. But with such portability and battery life, I don't care that much. FSO (RC3, no MediaVPs) was a tad bit twitchy but still quite playable.

Cool, i'll probably look into all these makes and models.. For now i'll take CC's advice and bide my time, Wait for one of those holo projector things that dead pilot in the FS2 intro had... with Windows 7

Srsly though, ta. any other feedback on my initial choice would be welcome too.

Also, when you get one I'd order an extra gigabyte or two of RAM, bring it up to 3GB.

doing anything serious 3D related on a netbook is a big no-no. get either a laptop with 4 gigs of ram, 2 ghz proc (dual core preferred) and a dedicated gpu.

i got mine for less than 500 quid... Asus Aspire 5530G, runs everything fine. only downside? HOT HOT HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT!!!111 after having it in my lap for 2 hours...

Same here with my MTC laptop "Ruoska". But you can turn it into an advantage. It'll help you keep your aparment warm in the winter. I also usually keep my coffee cup right next to the exhaust holes so that the coffee stays hot. I guess it would also work with tea.

This is a mobile solution. To allow me to do the basic graft on the move. Fun like renders is for my Q6600 at home

@lobo, yeah. i once left a porcelain cup behind while it was rendering something (the main rig broke down, hd fail or something), went to pick it up, ended up with a burn on the fingah
