You see - that's my reference. :p

BTW, Scorp - don't put things in >< these because the board thinks it's a tag and hides text.

I'm sorry there's no "serious look, shaking my head in amazement and horror at a gross misinterpretation" smiley.

I suppose that we're going to have to ditch half of the Dr. Demento song line up. Richard Lewis is out of a job. So's Billy Crystal. Oh, and Seinfeld. And... well half the standup comedians out there. And we'll not be able to play Adam Sandler's Hannukah Song anymore.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of self-deprecating jewish entertainers and comedians who have made incredible sums of money making fun of themselves, their families and their culture. We must find their names and silence them before they joke again! At the very least, we must explain that the jokes that they have told over the last fifty years about themselves, their families, their culture and their religion were bad bad bad bad bad and wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

I almost forgot. We should remind them that "Jokes like that aren't funny."

Perspective, I understand, is a beautiful thing.

I wont argue with you there Scorp. :)
The only two other places I have found that are good for getting peoples opinions of your work are Warpstorm and Relicnews...Relicnews, they arent afraid to come right out and tell you what they thought of it. They will tell you whats wrong, and whats good, same as here, just not so politely...
Warpstorm, ehh, hard to say, depends on whos replying...

I thought Al was Jewish

and sometimes I think were a bit... too nice,
sometimes I'm not sure if something I've made is realy good or if people are just being nice,
I've seen a lot of, well, crappy things, most people here are totaly positive, even if it's just a sphere and a cone placed near each other (this is a real example) people are saying "that's cool" and stuff like that. I normaly don't respond if I have nothing positive to add, unless my opinion is requested, then I'm totaly honest, and usualy totaly brutel. I do this becase I have made many people realy upset with me by offering a negitive opinion that wasn't asked for.
note: I'm not on The Babylon Project anymore :sigh:
but there was more than just my charming personality (disorders) involved in that

Mmmm, of course we might be too nice. However both have pros and cons. If we're nice to people - they may be inspired to try and improve their skills. However that may keep good advice from reaching them. Therefore there needs to be a compromise.

BTW I try to offer my opinions (constructive criticism) while trying to be postive - I don't know how succesful I am... :p

Hoo boy.  I bet if it was about any other group (such as, oh, the Amish like in Amish Paradise) you'd be laughing your ass off.

Actually, Bobboau, since I like your modelling sensibilities, I ALWAYS want your opinion (and Venom's, Steak's and a few other people's). I might get offended, but I still value the feedback. And I will try to keep a civil tongue. ;)

Another HLP Rules thread. Isn't that nice :) . I like when everybody is happy. You are happy, I am happy, we are happy. :)   I like to be happy. And if HLP makes one happy, then HLP rules:)

Well, if it's crap, I'll say it's crap - in the most polite manner available to me at the time, of course. ;)

And indeed, the best example that HLP rules and we're all as cool as it gets is that a topic about religion can get to be several pages long without starting a flame war. As I already said, where else on the net can you find that?

:)
