I've actually read a lot of the scientific literature on NDEs. We know what causes them and what effects they have. There's nothing mystical about them - it's rooted in the neural architecture of the brain. Fun stuff.

A summary of logical limitations of religious faith (and by the way, "mysticism" has a relatively specific meaning where religion is concerned, and I take no small issue with the context in which it was used here) doesn't even begin to describe what we've witnessed in this thread. I often enjoy your posts.

I don't believe that religion doesn't have any evidence to support it but I do believe it is an inferior theory to a purely natural world. Mainly because the assumption of God's existence.  But that is something I accept on faith and my reasons are purely philosophical.  

I also believe that absolute "religious" truth can be known and can go beyond the myriad of choices in the interest of saving everyone's time (especially mine) I suggest we not go too deep into this line of thought.
