'Tis indeed.  I used Corel PhotoPaint to fade the warp ani to black instead of white, and adjusted the colour balance from cyan towards green.  It was actually the easiest part of the whole weapon mod to do (or at least the fastest).

I'll take a wild guess, it has an invisible beam? and, how did you get it to center on the sath, did you add an extra gunpoint, or do something funny with the weap to make it center on the sath like that. Also, a funny idea, make a capella model with one HUGE engine glow (vasudan, looks most like a sun), and have the shockwave set to several million KM, with mega-damage to match. So then you can have your saths nuke capella!

Invisible beam indeed.  Aldo moved the firing point for an insiginficant laser turret to a point centered between the arms for me.   I wish I could post the sounds for you to hear, too.  (Well, I suppose I could, but that would take a long time to upload with the crappy connection I have).

I still think you should make massive engine glow capella to blow up

Well, I could do that, but there are easier ways.  I just put a little cargo container off in the distance in the eye of the sun and have the Subspace Rift fire at that.  Then the supernova-start sexp is triggered.  Instant ka-blooey!  That's how I did it in the test mission from which I got the screenshots.

I will, once the mission to go with it is made.  You can wait a few days, can't you? ;)

very nice!

I like watching Capella go boom...;. ;) ;)
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

I don´t think you can have that big shockwaves. Tried something like that once and bad things happened.

Interesting... not bad.

One thing that still gets me though is the nuking part and the fact that you never see more than one Capella star in the missions.  Capella is a Quad system...

So... we could have four supernovas....

More explosions=:jaw: :jaw: :jaw:

Just thinking of it makes me drool

Probably only one, two perhaps.

Two of the stars are the main giants, the other two are red dwards... tiny.  My guess is that Volition would explain this away as the 'extra' stars where actually the Capella system planets... you just can't tell all the way from Earth.  Either that or they just didn't bother to incorp it into the storyline.

But again, one super nove should be quite sufficient to blow the entier system to pieces.  Two would take some doing to pull of at the same time.  The red dwarfs, although they could be set off wouldn't have nearly as much effect as the larger stars.  I'm not sure but they might not even be close enough to the main Capella system to have much effect on it even if they went nova.  But don't quote me on that...

ok. Capella is at 42 light years from us. so if three of the stars disappeared  one one or another, we couldn't know it before 42 years. let's assume they blew up 42 years ago. tommorrow, scientists discover that one of them bwent nova, destroying the two smaller ones in the process. dur to the fact that the second large star remains ( big enough to survive somehow), it's gravity kindda suck up the resulting nebula. If you think that's not enough, let's just invent some oddity that makes that by FS1 time the nebula as vanished anyway. et voila.
no superheated nebula, so mankind can go there. By FS2 time, Capella is colonized, but the shivans decides that it's not fair for the three other stars that one survives, so they decide to blow the 4th one up as well. See, i've solved why there's only one capella star in FS2, and why the shivans blew it up :D

Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

The core of the second large star would be far more dense and massive than the gases flying towards it from the supernova, so it would not be affected all that much. (some outer layers would be cast off, but that's about it)

Too bad that Bosch is too busy partying with the Shivans to ask him...:( ;)

Easy. GD was too small to go nova (even with shivan help) so they went straight to the first star they could make go bang :)
