Some weapons in FS2, I think, are redundant. The best example I can think of is the Huge Terran Turret - it's armed on the Orion and the Typhon I remember, and probably other ships too. It's that big green blob that you occasionally see flying along, which has no hope of ever hitting any fighter, and does very little damage to other capships.
The same can be spoken of most other conventional laser turrets on ships. I think that all these 'old book' weapons should be replaced by weak, but similarly effective beams - weakened anti-capship beams, essentially. I think the laser turret has outlived its usefulness. What do you guys think?
