I tried this solution:

then restarted the X server.
Now, with only one display(monitor) the joystick works correctly.
I really prefer to use both of my monitors.
In fact, when I get my new Radeon "HD 5750" next week, I plan to go to a 3 monitor setup (anybody using that in FS2_Open?).
Even if dual monitors are not used (are they?) in FS2, switching to one,
then back to two displays after playing is a pain.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
Is this just a Linux issue?
