Not exactly, for reasons explained in the deleted posts. Drill missiles don't explode, they just penetrate the hull and let all the air out- much nastier, but useless against shields.
Then the weapon has a shield penalty and radiative bonus added onto the armor bonus. That describes a weapon that doesn't penetrate shields, drills into the hull which causes damage, and harms the crew. (lack of air)
L1-4+Armor Bonus*Protracted+Radiative Bonus+Shield Penalty
Heavy armor was one layer of armor. I had 3 heavy armors, and a carrier with 8-yard thick hullplates.
Heavy armor stands for any type of armor layering you do on the ship. Heavy Armor*protracted is what you're talking about, and that's as heavy as it will go. (if you have a destroyer, it's Delta rated armor with Heavy Armor*protracted as the max you can go, period)
