Crash: MediaVPs 3.6.10 warnings/errors on Fedora 12
Hello folks! :)

I DL'ed MediaVPs + patch from this thread: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=65038.0

I also compiled 'fs_open_r' using the info and source from this thread: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,64520.0.html

The retail game, along with some mods, such as Sync(30 Warnings/errors) and Warzone(0 Warnings/Errors), run normally.

When I try to run the 'mediavps' mod with the recommended options selected on the launcher, I get 191 Warnings/Errors after the Intro Video.
However, the game crashes a bit firther, just when I try to 'Start or Continue a Campaign'

I am posting the CLI's output when I run 'fs_open_d', located here: http://pastebin.com/DyFs7jvh

Thanks in advance!
My system: P4@3GHz w/Hyperthreading, 1.5Gb RAM, ATI X1300/1550 256Mb, Linux Fedora 12,

Re: Crash: MediaVPs 3.6.10 warnings/errors on Fedora 12
are the mods in their own separate directories within your freespace 2 folder?

have you used the debug build of FSO (there is a d in the file name somewhere near the numbers)?

if you have can you go to (freespace2)\data and post the log file.

have you tried / do you get the same problems with the 3.6.12 rc2 exe ?

p.s. i cant read the link at the bottom as my until i get home as work has pastbin blocked, if that is the error log then i apologise for my second and third point

Please build a debug build (just run configure with --enable-debug), use that build, run it to the pilot select screen, then quit.
Then retrieve the fs2_open.log from ~/.fs2_open/data and post it here.

On a hunch though, I'd guess your GPU driver doesn't support compressed textures.

"Headdie", hey mate, thanks for the help and the warm welcome! :-)

1. Yeap they are in a seperate mediavps/ folder.
2, 3. Yeap, I have posted it already. I am also posting the fs2_open.log, below...

"The E", I just did! Here is the post of the fs2_open.log :  http://pastebin.com/kJ4QMZzi
About the GPU driver, well, it could be it. ATI hasn't provided yet drivers for F12's Xorg version...I am using the open source ones right now...

I hope all the above help. Thank you folks for your help, I am very happy to be here.

M.

Looks like E's hunch was right.  OpenGL 1.5 is barely minimum and it appears no compression support.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Oh dear... :shaking:

So I'll have to change GPU to NVidia or wait for ATI people to make some driver...

Thanks again, folks...

Or you can use a tool like driconf to switch on that extension manually.

Not sure whether that's available on Fedora, though.
