ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Hello and welcome to a new episode of guess the error.

In Today's episode we will be looking at the brandnew ATI Catalyst Driver which loves to crash FS2.

Well long story short, FS2 worked perfectly fine with drivers from february, however as I updated em in april, they crashed me to the desktop everytime I pressed "Commit" in the briefing room(last button before the mission starts).

So now I was forced to upgrade my drivers after all due to another game, however the newer ATI Driver does the exact same thing, sadly.

Nothing at all was changed beside the driver update.

Heres the funny log.

Re: ATI Driverz hate FS2!
Please disable post processing for the time being. 3.6.12 final will have a few fixes for pp, if the issue still appears there, we'll look into it again.

If you don't want to do that, or disabling post processing doesn't work, you will need to extract the atioglxx.dll from a driver version that works, and put it into your FS2 folder. Instructions on how to do that can be found via Google.

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Getting a funny "atixvkxvcj.dll is not a valid Windows Image" error when I trys it with the old atioglxx.dll into the fs2 folder.

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
1. There is no atixvkxvcj.dll.
2. Please run the debug build again with post processing disabled, and post the log from that.
3. Then, run the same build with GLSL disabled entirely. If that crashes as well, post the log as well.
4. Did you make sure to extract the atioglxx.dll from a driver version appropriate for your Operating system?

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Honestly, I personally would not recommend the atioglxx.dll trick unless the particular card is of series with known issues. The 5k series should run FSO without any issues.

I have 4870 with latest drivers and zero problems. Even post-processing works with recent trunk builds. The problem is that we haven't had nightly builds in ages for public consumption, which is a grave error from SCP's part.

So my recommendation is to forget about the atioglxx.dll. Instead download http://blueplanet.fsmods.net/E/FSO%206150.7z and use the executables provided in the 7z archive. I'm fairly certain this is enough to solve your problem.

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Theres no PP in those files? At least its not listed under graphic features.

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Those builds have update audio code to support hardware accelerated audio where available. Please make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date and you have latest OpenAL. http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zip

Re: ATI Drivers hate FS2! (AKA More fun with post processing)
Doesnt help, the sound is s till off at times, sounds get ignored, seem to have a wrong "location" etc.
