So i have a problem with the fs2 campaign. Last time i played the campaign i selected The Kings Gambit mission from the mission selector. I just wanted to see something and replay that simple mission. Then i didnt play with the game for a long time. That was months ago.

I reinstalled my windows last week, and had some free time so played again. Campaign started from that mission. At first didnt really bother with it, i just played all  remaining levels from that point. But now if i press restart campaign first level is automatically the Kings Gambit mission. (When you kill NTF ships with the help of Mjolnir beams)

I erased my player profile, and created a new one. Same result. It always starts from that mission even with an empty profile... But i want to replay the game from the real first mission... I tried 3.6.9 3.6.10 and 3.6.12 and its the same with every version....

Whats wrong with my fs2? Can anyone help?

Go to the data\players\single directory in your FS2 folder. Delete the file named <Pilot name>.FreeSpace2.cs2, then try again.

as i said, i erased my profile completely, not just that file, but the complete data\players directory, and created a new profile. same effect. but tried your suggestion too, didnt help

Check \freespace2\data\missions\ folder for a file called Freespace2.fc2. If not present, check \freespace2\mediavps\data\missions\ .

Check data\missions and mediavps\data\missions. See if there is a FreeSpace2.fc2 file there, and delete it if there is. Should that not help, read the FSO FAQ, and follow its instructions to generate an fs2_open.log, then post it here.
