Re: The Blue Planet: War In Heaven Part 1 Voice Acting Call - "Minor" roles
I'm going to have to ask again, E...

...Did you want me to re-do the Mence lines - or perform any other lines in particular?

If you want to, you can do any of the roles listed here. As for the Mence lines, I thought they were quite good. No need to redo them at present.

I think I found an error.  Thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Re: The Blue Planet: War In Heaven Part 1 Voice Acting Call - "Minor" roles
I would recommend converting them at something like 192 to 256 kbps, that way you won't lose any quality.

Any recommendation on mics, or will anything do for that?

As long as the recording is clear, without background noise, it's good.

what if there is relatively very little backround noise?

Then you should probably be good as-is.  The_E is referring to the sort of noise that has an actual detrimental effect on your lines.  I've often found that my own recordings sound better with a bit of background hum than they do after using Audacity's noise removal tool.

Re: The Blue Planet: War In Heaven Part 1 Voice Acting Call - "Minor" roles
To be clear(er), detrimental effects would include the 50/60hz (and its harmonics) hum from AC power (though that seems to pretty easy to remove depending on the pitch of your voice), other voices in the background, "loud" noises (other than your voice, of course :D), etc. Basically anything that you wouldn't want to hear while listening to the voice acting while playing.

Finally, if you are really not sure, send in a couple of lines, I will tell you flat out if the quality is unacceptable and that we would not consider it at all.

I loved AoA and I really want to help, but I fear my voice acting would be poor as hell... plus, Eastern European accent. :D

That's a lot of actors, though! I can't wait for the VA campaign release!

So long as it's understandable, an accent can actually add a lot to a performance; I know Dekker's performance as Orestes control in AoA sounded twice as awesome to my American ears because of his kickass accent.  And you never know how good you are until you try, so why not submit a sample? :)

"Lehvenhook" would be a close approximation, I think.

Loy-ven-oak would be bang on the money though.

# INDRA II was a fleet exercise prior to the outbreak of hostilities.
# "Excellent shooting, Ranvir. It's good to see all that gunnery drill at INDRA II paid off. We're hurting but still intact."

Possible issue with this line.  2nd sentence is off grammatically, it could either be "all those gunnery drills at INDRA II paid off" or "that gunnery drill at INDRA II paid off"

I had and continue to have the impression that in military colloquialism that construction is actually correct or at least acceptable, but I could be totally misguided and I can't find any source.

It sounds fine. Substitued drill for practice and it still makes sense.

That's all drill is in this instance.
