Nah, I mean the atmopshere, design, the factions - didn't like any of it. Just didn't sit right.

It's based on a lot of classic SF, particularly Frank Herbert's The Jesus Incident. Which might not sit right with you either.

That is so cool. Too bad my discs are broken, I could really get into it again.
Sig nuked! New one coming soon!

Got my copy still lying around somewhere. But now with the Civ4-AC-Mod it's kind'a obsolete except nostalgia :nervous:

Hrm. So does the Civ 4 AC mod actually live up to it in terms of atmosphere?

If so I'm gonna be all the hell over that mod.

Hm, well it's no exact copy but it's... well let's compare it to FS1 and the FSport. FS1 still has some special feeling when playing it but the Port ports it (eheh) to another level... hard to describe... Nevermind! Just play it, it's great, man! :D

Alpha Centauri is owned by EA.

Why? It's a Firaxis product. Says so when you install the thing. :P

Firaxis is the developer. Rights to titles usually remain with the publisher though.

Yeah, which is why everyone who owns a copy of Sword of the Stars is damn glad that Kerberos has managed to keep the rights to it.  If Lighthouse had had ownership of SotS when they went bankrupt...*shudder*

[07:57:32] <Caiaphas> inspired by HerraTohtori i built a supermaneuverable plane in ksp

[08:00:11] <Caiaphas> the plane however performed admirably, and only crashed because it no longer had any guidance systems

now I have enormous floating antigravity fortresses armed with neutronium plating, clean reactors to minimize their impact on my economy, and singularity weapons. I call them the Tertiary Phallus of Battuta. They violate Miriam's troops like an unfortunate scene from a prison shower.

Re: Battuta conquers Alpha Centauri, becomes living planet
My only gripe with Alpha Centauri was that despite being made many years later the AI was significantly inferior to MOO1. Other than that it was pretty good.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

I am annoyed to discover that I can install SMAC to my new machine and it will work without fuss, but Alien Crossfire breaks it.
