In many dogfight missions, some ships cannot carry the '-D' weapons that they seem like they ought to. For example in 'Medium Dogfight - Asteroid', the Perseus cannot carry the Subach, and the Serapis cannot carry the Mehku.

Is this supposed to be the case (for balance purposes), or is it an error? Has it been so since retail?

From the retail tables:

Perseus:
$Allowed PBanks: ( "Subach HL-7" "Akheton SDG" "Morning Star" "Prometheus S" "Prometheus R" "UD-8 Kayser" )
$Allowed Dogfight PBanks: ( "MorningStar D" "Prometheus D" "Maxim D" "Circe" "UD-D Kayser" )
$Allowed SBanks: ( "Rockeye" "Tempest" "Harpoon" "Trebuchet" "Stiletto II" "Hornet" "Tornado" "Hornet#Weak" "EMP Adv." "TAG-A" "TAG-B" )
$Allowed Dogfight SBanks: ( "Tempest D" "Harpoon D" "Tornado D" )

Serapis:
$Allowed PBanks: ( "Mekhu HL-7" "Akheton SDG" "Morning Star" "Prometheus S" "Prometheus R" "Circe" "Lamprey" "Maxim")
$Allowed Dogfight PBanks: ( "MorningStar D" "Prometheus D" "Maxim D" "Circe" )
$Allowed SBanks: ( "Rockeye" "Tempest" "Harpoon" "Hornet" "TAG-B" "Tornado" "Hornet#Weak" "EMP Adv." )
$Allowed Dogfight SBanks: ( "Tempest D" "Harpoon D" "Tornado D" )

So it's set that way since retail.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras
